2022 SC EdTech Conference

I had the opportunity to attend the 2022 SC EdTech Conference, October 26-28, 2022, in Myrtle Beach, SC. One memorable session that I attended was entitled “Coaching Playbook for the Blended Learning Classroom,” where relevant and transferable tools and strategies were shared that could be put into practice in the classroom. Basically, blended learning is a mixture of asynchronous (independent learning) and synchronous (teacher supported) learning taking place. Students are heterogeneously placed in small groups and are rotated on a time-basis through structured learning centers, which are part of a studio-an intended learning or skilled outcome. Once the small peer groups have rotated through the structured five ‘Centers’, they should end up with a working/collaborative understanding of the intended skill/concept (‘Studio’) to be learned. This concept is like that of ‘eating an elephant’ - taking one bite at a time to consume/eat the whole elephant.
It is truly a privilege and an honor to be a part of the LIFE2/TSL Team; I hope that my experiences and talents will contribute to a successful implementation of the LIFE2/TSL grant in our two school districts.
